In 2005, the U.S. Department of Justice (“DOJ”) fined Bayer Corporation, a U.S. subsidiary of Bayer AG, for its participation in a conspiracy to fix prices of adipic-based polyester polyols, which is a type of Rubber Chemical.  Adipic-based polyester polyols are used to improve the strength of leather and plastic products.  The cartel began early in 1998 and continued until late in 2002.
