The European Commission (“EC”) imposed fines totaling €128 million for operating a cartel in the cathode ray tube glass industry.  Cathode ray tube glass is used in television and computer screens.  The EC stated that the cartel lasted from 1999 to 2004.  The fines were the result of a settlement decision between the Commission and the various companies involved in the cartel.  As a result, each company received at least a 10% leniency reduction.  The Korea Fair Trade Commission (“KFTC”) initiated an investigation after receiving a leniency application, and ultimately imposed fines on four companies totaling over ₩ 54 billion.
